This is a very useful handbook for practitioners and teachers in antritust matters. This volume contents a complete overview of the european common legislation and the principles that orient the national antitrust laws in Europe. The organization of the information makes it an systemait and valuable reference to people starting in this area. The references to the jurisprudence and doctrine produced during the last 40 years is also useful and helpful. It is one of the top books regarding a systematic study about the requirements to analyze monopolistic practices. It is very useful to find differences between the US system and the european approach to the antitrust cases. Another area that is develop properly, is the relationship between antotrust an another fields like intellectual property, national jurisdiction and civil law.

I have several personal finance books that I've purchased throughout the years. However, none of them provided me with as much knowledge as this one did. This is an easy to read, easy to understand book that covers the basic money principles everyone should know. I have recommended it to several of my friends - even those who aren't single moms! This book isn't for the savvy, financial investor. It's for those just starting out on the road to financial independence.

Despite the insurance industry's tendency to tout integrated disability and medical management plans, there remains a dearth of available information to guide the interested business manager through the process. The Executive's Guide to Controlling Health Care and Disability Costs: Strategy-Based Solutions provides an excellent overview and in-depth treatment of why companies should pursue an integrated approach toward disability and health care management, and how exactly they should do it

An Excellent Collection of Lachmann's Essays
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-28
This collection of essays, edited by the Austrian-hermeneutician Don Lavoie, consists of Lachmann's early and late work (essays that did not make it into the Grinder volume). Lachmann's work on expectations and subjectivism can be found in his other book "Capital, Expecatations, and the Market Process."

This collection is really great. The first part of the book collects his work on capital theory, which is for the most part an extension of Hayekian capital theory applied to Keynes' theory of investment. Lachmann destroys Keynes' marginal efficiency of capital concept by showing that capital does not exhibit any tendency to decline in productivity through accumulation. This is because capital is heterogeneous and cooperates with other capital goods as either complements or substitutes in various (and inconsistent) production plans.

The second section of the book focuses on Lachmann's work on the history of the Austrian school and other more applied topics. The essay on John Maynard Keynes is very good as he correctly points out that Keynes was a more complete subjectivist than Hayek! Lachmann's other famous essays --- "Austrian economics under Fire" and "From Mises to Shackle" --- are also included in this book.

Lachmann is the most interesting economist to have ever contributed to the Austrian school, and his work should be read closely be anyone interested in this tradition.

I will say at the start that I do not have much finance experience. I took a few classes in college, but that was the extent. This book covers the basics, such as budgeting, and moves on up to investment plans and strategies. I would recommend this for anyone who is worrying that they're not planning for the future. easy read

Beyond Typical Supply Chain Management
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2003-11-26
Davis and Spekman have written an excellent work that that takes two critical points of departure from traditional supply chain management (SCM) literature. First, Davis and Spekman link SCM with strategy, indicating that SCM (or any form of functional excellence) must be valued for its usefulness as a source of competitive advantage - not as an end in itself.

Second, and more importantly, Davis and Spekman emphasize the importance (and challenge) of true collaboration across enterprise boundaries. While supply chain integration is usually treated as a primarily a matter of gaining visibility or improving synchronization throughout a chain (ie, linking IT systems), Davis and Spekman show that true collaboration depends the integration of business processes and the creation of trust outside traditional enterprise barriers. In short, Davis and Spekman have elevated trust to the level of an absolutely necessary condition for true collaboration in the context of SCM.

Davis's and Spekman's message comes none too soon for companies that have been been burned by ERP or CRM system implementations that have failed to produce results or recover costs, or partnerships that dissolve in frustration. Even when the IT or business process aspects of such implementations are handled flawlessly, ignoring the "softer" side - i.e, failing to build trans-enterprise trust - produces predictable results and destroys shareholder value.

As a consultant dealing with issues surrounding SCM and external coordination, I recommend this book to executives, general managers, and other consultants whose clients struggle to integrate and collaborate across enterprise boundaries.
